SUNDAY NEWS
February 22, 2009

This week all four of us took a VIP tour of Chase Stadium. Chase Stadium is where our Major League Baseball team, the Diamondbacks play. Apparently Christian and Karl went to so many games last year that we popped on a list as potential candidates for season ticket packages. We caught a call to come down for a private tour. We love the Diamondbacks, but there is no way we need tickets for every game. They had a few packages that involved 28 games that were pretty tempting. Especially the ones that involved the suite level and came with all you can eat.

Christian brought home some kind of a virus from that germ smorgasbord they call a school. While Christian got over it pretty quickly, we suspect the virus was genetically engineered to wreak havoc on the host’s parent’s health. Karl and Lori have been wiped out for days. The good news is that we have managed to keep little Vayden from getting it, and for that we are very thankful. Many of Lori’s friends at work have had their babies hospitalized with whatever this is.

Very Vayden
Vayden now likes to moan and groan herself to sleep. She is not really crying she just starts singing with her complaining voice to lull herself to sleep. It is pretty funny to watch. Vayden has also taken a lot of interest in Roxy lately. She has a pretty consistent sleep schedule. She usually goes down between 9 or 10 p.m. and then gets up about 5 a.m. On occasion she will sleep in until 7 or 8 a.m. The flip side of that is that she is awake all day. One day this week while Lori was a work, Vayden didn’t so much as blink for 10 straight hours.

Completely Christian
Christian has been doing very well in school lately. He has decided he wants to try playing football, so we were working on that a little after school until practice was cancelled on the account of illness. Christian is a good kid. The poor little guy must be feeling pretty neglected lately. Both his parents have been wiped out and using what little energy they have to keep their jobs going and take care of the baby.

Christian was going on and on at the dinner table this week about how it is so hard to be him because all the girls think he is so cute. He was telling us how the young ones think he is cute, and the old ones think he is cute. As he put it, “Pretty much everybody thinks I am cute.” At the same time, Christian gets upset when we get stopped in the store and some random lady will comment that she thinks that Vayden is very cute. Christian complains that when Vayden is around nobody can seem to see his cuteness. He is funny. We are trying to convince him that at 9 years old he should strive for handsome and being complimented on being such a good big brother. Vayden really likes Christian, and Christian does a good job with her.

Family Stories
Karl’s Fever

Sometimes when Karl gets certain illnesses, he runs a very high temperature. He has been like that his whole life. His temperature can reach alarming heights and he has been known to hallucinate. Karl tends to get better much faster than most but the trade off is the high fever. Karl went to bed on one such night. When Lori got up early to go to work, Karl was nowhere to be found. When Lori checked, Karl’s truck, it was still parked outside and the keys were still in the basket. Lori looked all over the house for him in every room. Karl was still nowhere to be found. Lori was going to be late for work, so she had to leave. She went into the garage and started up her Toyota Sequoia. Karl, who was lying across the back seat bench asleep, woke up and startled Lori who began to scold him for acting like a lunatic. “What are you doing? She demanded. Karl tried to explain that when he gets a high fever he gets the chills and his whole body shivers and aches from the chill. It was summer time and in Arizona the temperature in the garage, even at night is over 100 degrees. So, unable to get warm anywhere else, Karl was driven by his fever induced chills to crawl into the back seat of Lori’s car where he had his own little sweat box to escape the chill created by the fever. Lori went to work and told everyone she was married to a crazy man.
