Volume 10

SUNDAY NEWS
February 15, 2009

We hope everyone had a Happy Valentine’s Day yesterday. Happy 19th Birthday Brittney! . . and we hope Grandma Jan had a Happy Birthday too. Grandma Jan is a little older than 19.

Very Vayden
Vayden continues to explore and expand the use of her voice. She makes noises forcing air out, she makes noises sucking air in. She grunts, growls, squeaks, chatters, talks, and spits. We don’t know if any of you have seen the movie The Grudge, but that is her newest sound. She loves to use her voice. There are times when we have just given up trying to watch a movie or television program because she is making so much noise.

Vayden was in her jumperoo bouncing away when she unloaded a coupled days worth of processed milk into her diaper. Due to the impressive consistency and volume of processed milk and the jumping action, each time she jumped up and down poop was forced out of her diaper and skyward creating a mess that took both Lori and Karl to deal with. Poop shot all over the place. Vayden had to go straight to the bath tub and the cute Valentine’s Day outfit she was wearing may not be able to be saved.

Sooooo Shelby
This week was Shelby’s last week of poms. She participated in a pom competition yesterday. Shelby got a 97.5 on a Math test this week and did a speech on Current events in Russia. Shelby wants everyone to know that La Porte High School beat South Central High School 69 to 42. Apparently the La Porte crowd got kicked out for yelling and chanting, “This game is over!” La Porte actually put their Junior Varsity team in for the last quarter. Sounds like high school Indiana basketball is some pretty serious brutal stuff.

Being Brittney
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRITTNEY
Really Roxy
Roxy can be little neurotic sometimes. She does this thing with her dog food. She takes her dog food bits one by one and places them all over the back patio. She will go back later an eat them, but for some reason she can’t seem to just eat out of her bowl like a normal dog. If you walk outside before she is done you will find each of your footsteps met by the crunching sound of tiny dog food bits crushing under your shoes. It is even worse if you happen to venture outside barefoot. Sometimes it is enough to drive a person crazy. We have no idea why she feels the need to do this.

Family Stories
The Night of the Puggle Presentation

Lori took Shelby and Alyssa to the mall with her and had a serious lapse in judgment when she agreed to go into the mall’s pet store where there were dozens of all different breeds of little puppies for sale. In an even worse lapse of judgment Lori agreed to go into one of the visitation rooms with a Puggle that both Alyssa and Shelby had decided they could not live without. By the way, a Puggle is a cross breed resulting from the mating of a Beagle female with a Pug male.

Karl joined the shopping party late that afternoon and everybody went to dinner at Ruby Tuesdays. Alyssa and Shelby relentlessly pursued their objective, which was to talk their way into getting the Puggle. Now at this point in time, neither Alyssa or Shelby was living in Arizona with us, yet they wanted to get the Puggle and take care of it for the handful of days they both had left on their visit. Every possible method of persuasion was employed. Eventually Shelby and Alyssa went off did some research on the computer to prepare a presentation on Puggles and why we should get one. We even have pictures of this presentation to this very day. The presentation was well prepared and both Shelby and Alyssa presented their parts standing in front of their intended audience like professional debaters. The pleadings continued long into the night and even into the early hours of the next morning. At about 1 o’clock in the morning the girls closed in and demanded an answer. We had promised up until this point in time to try to keep an open mind. But when pressed with a demand for a decision, the decision was ‘no’. Tears and drama ensued and this night is forever remembered in our family history as the Night of the Puggle Presentation.
