Volume 25

SUNDAY NEWS
September 6, 2009

Lori’s surgery went well and she was able to come home after about 24 hours. The neurosurgeon and his staff impressed with the size of the disc they were able to remove. Lori still has a lot of pain but she has been doing her walking like the doctor ordered. Melissa arrived this week and having her here is a big help and relief.

Very Vayden
Vayden is very happy to have her grandmother here. She took to Melissa right away and now gets upset if she leaves the room. Vayden will now walk when she is not thinking about what she is doing. She walked about 4 to 5 steps to cut the corner of the upstairs couch. She also stood up by herself in the middle of the room and clapped at something one the T.V. When she realized she was standing she got a surprised look on her face, panicked and fell back on her butt. Melissa bought Vayden a little pool to play in. We are trying several things to get Vayden to walk. See pictures of our little Vaydy May in the Volume 25 - Photo Addendum.

Completely Christian
Christian’s football team remains undefeated after a tough game yesterday. The played the Lancers. No pictures this week due to hostile weather conditions. Pouring rain and cameras don’t mix. What a difference a week makes. Last week it was 117 degrees in the blazing sun, this week it was 72 degrees and pouring rain. That is 45 degrees cooler! Most of the game it was tied up at 6-6. The boys played hard and there were several injuries. None of them were serious. Christian does have one team mate on the injured list with a broken hand. He broke it in a scrimmage. Christian now plays as a lineman in both the offensive and defensive lines. Christian had several great tackles. One of them saved a touchdown. Early in the 4th quarter Christian and his Badgers managed to score another touchdown putting them in the lead. It was a nail-biter from that point on with some very tense moments near the goal line for the Badger defense. Probably the most stressful moments of all were when Christian and two of his teammates decided they needed to go to the bathroom. The coaches who were unaware of this fact were calling their names when the field turned up short of players. Christian and his 2 team mates where gone for about 7-10 minutes. Apparently there was a line at the restroom. The boys returned to a mob of angry parents and coaches. It was a near disaster. The rest of the team managed to hold the Lancers and the Badgers won. Christian tackled one kid so hard he didn’t get up. Christian came back from the game bragging to his Mom and Melissa about how he tackled one of the opposing players so hard that he couldn’t get up and was crying. His Dad told him that he shouldn’t brag about stuff like that. Of course, later after Christian had left the room, Karl bragged to Lori about Christian had tackled some kid so hard he made him cry. Why is it that a father’s chest swells with pride when his kid demolishes another kid and leaves him unable to get up off the field? Not saying it is right, just not denying it is true.

Sooooo Shelby
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHELBY!
Sweet Sixteen !
Shelby is following in the footsteps of Brittney and spending her 16th Birthday grounded, but she seems to be in good spirits and we wish all the best for her 16th year.

Really Roxy
While other members of the family have suffered because of Lori’s affliction, Roxy has actually benefited. She has been enjoying life as a dog in the Mueller home. She must thing she has died and gone to dog heaven. She has got to be on the couch. Eat people food. Be in the house for dinner. Sleep in Christian’s room. Now in the past if Karl or Christian had let Roxy do any of those things they would have gotten their heads ripped off with one of Lori’s three standard lectures involving Roxy and Lori’s dislike of 1) dog hair, 2) dogs who beg, 3) dogs in the same room as people eating. Each lecture ranges from 2 – 7 minutes in length and auditory volume depending on Lori’s mood and the level of the infraction on Lori’s dog rules. Perhaps the disc they removed from Lori’s back contained Lori’s dog adversities? Perhaps the many narcotics she has been taking is responsible Roxy’s current reprieve? Whatever the reason, Roxy is hoping it stays that way.
